
The Mahavidyalaya has constituted the Anti Ragging to prevent the threat of ragging and foster healthy interpersonal relations among students in the campus of PRMS Mahavidyalaya. Ragging is strictly illegal in or outside the mahavidyalaya premises All students shall acquaint themselves with rules/regulations/guidelines on code of conduct, anti-ragging measures and disciplines of Mahavidyalaya. All ‘new comers’ should attend counseling sessions organized for them from time to time by the cell members and all staffs. Anti-Ragging Cell should be one of the important parts of Educational Institution’s mechanism. As per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which is modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in higher Educational Institutions, 2009, establishment of Anti-Ragging Cell is very compulsory.

To create an atmosphere of discipline by passing a clear message that no act of ragging in Mahavidyalaya premises.
Objectives
- To prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- To bring out an awareness among the students about the consequences of ragging.
- To keep a constant eye and vigilance over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence.
- To address any ragging issues immediately take action as advised by the committee.
- Anti-Ragging Cell executive meeting will be held regularly.
Anti-Ragging Policy
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Institutions, 2009, ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
- Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- Pampering in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student(s) which causes physical or psychological harm or to raise anxiety in any fresher or any other student.
- Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
- Any act by a senior student that prevents, interrupts the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
- Misusing the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned.
- Any act of financial blackmail put on a fresher or any other student by students.
- Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
- Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, place of birth, caste, culture, gender (including transgender), appearance, nationality, regional origins, place of residence or economic background.
Punishments
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, depending on the nature and seriousness of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, those found guilty may be awarded one or more of the following punishments, namely;
- Warning, writing apology letter.
- Suspension from attending classes and academic rights.
- Withholding/ retreating scholarship/ fellowship and additional benefits.
- Refusing from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
- Withholding results.
- Banning from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension/ removal from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
- Dismissal from the institution and subsequent refusing from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
Powers and Functions: Anti ragging
- To maintain and obey with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and be vigilant on any acts amounting to ragging;
- To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti- Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders;

- Oversee the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions;
- Conduct workshops against ragging menace and orient the students;
- To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls;
- To offer services of counseling and create awareness to the students;
- To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus.

Multiple Reporting Channel
- Dedicated Helpline:A 24/7 anti-ragging helpline number is available for students to report incidents. This number is prominently displayed on the college notice boards, website, and anti-ragging posters across the campus.
- Email:Students can also report ragging incidents via a college email address ensuring a written record of the complaint. Email: prmsmahavidyalaya@yahoo.co.in

- Drop Boxes:Secure drop boxes are placed at various strategic locations on campus, including hostels, libraries, and the main administrative building, where students can submit written complaints anonymously.
- Online Portal:The college website includes an online form where students can report ragging incidents anonymously if they choose.
- Immediate Acknowledgment:Upon receiving a complaint, the Anti-Ragging Cell coordinator acknowledges the receipt of the complaint within 24 hours.
- Preliminary Assessment:The coordinator conducts a preliminary assessment to understand the nature and urgency of the complaint
Investigation Procedure
- Inquiry Committee Formation:An inquiry committee, comprising members of the Anti-Ragging Cell, is formed to investigate the complaint. This committee typically includes faculty members, administrative staff, and student representatives to ensure a balanced perspective.

- Evidence Collection:The committee collects evidence through interviews with the complainant, witnesses, and the accused. They also review any physical or digital evidence related to the incident.
